McKinney's Best Martial Arts school
A McKinney taekwondo school with after-school classes
Vasquez Taekwondo Academy is a taekwondo school in McKinney, and for plenty of local families it's where the kids go once the school bell rings. The academy says it opened in 1995. It runs an after-school program alongside its regular classes.
McKinney had 236,001 residents in 2025, per the Census Bureau. The city sits in Collin County. The median home in town was built in 2007, per the American Community Survey (2024).
Belts, Korean sword and summer camps
Taekwondo is the main draw, from first lessons for beginners all the way up to black belt. The academy also names Hapkido, practical self-defense and Haidong Gumdo, a Korean sword art. It describes classes for preschoolers, kids, teens and adults, and its website states that its instructors are Kukkiwon certified.
Classes run in the afternoons and evenings, Monday through Saturday, with Sundays off.
Beyond regular classes, the academy lists summer camps and birthday parties. It holds a 4.7 rating from 68 Google reviews. Reviewers mention most how much their kids grow in skill and discipline, the family-run feel, and parties and camps that kids enjoy. A few critics say belt promotions come on a set schedule rather than by ability.
If you just moved to McKinney with a young kid, a summer camp here is an easy way to try the place out before signing up for regular classes.

Our son loves his time at VTA. This is an amazing family-run local business that teaches kids WAY more than just Taekwondo. We are so impressed with the Vasquez family and their amazing instructors. Thank you for making a difference in our lives!
We like it very much. It’s a wonderful place to learn taekwondo they teach you how to snap and punch good you even have a parter but if you don’t you get to learn more with the instructors so in my opinion I think it’s a good place to stay vigilant and alert!
My son has been going here for 3 years. He absolutely loves his classes. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for Taekwondo classes.
