Teaching Safety Since 1968
A Long Island City driving school teaching since 1968
Ferrari Driving School is a Long Island City driving school where people learn to handle anything from a small car to a tractor-trailer. The school says it began in 1968 as a family business. Its tagline still leans on that safety-first start.
The company describes itself as the biggest driver training school around New York City, with other branches in Queens and Brooklyn. It says its instructors speak more than one language, have college training and hold New York State certification.
Road tests, truck licenses and forklift training
Most folks come here to get ready for a road test. The website names permit practice, manual car lessons and the five hour class that New York requires. The training cars have dual controls, and there are motorcycle lessons too.
The bigger draw for some is commercial training. The school lists hazmat, school bus and Class A courses, plus OSHA construction equipment training and forklift certification. It also runs city, state and federally funded programs, training for business fleets, and an online job fair where CDL students can meet employers over Zoom.
The office is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. It holds a 4.3 rating from 726 Google reviews. Reviewers mention patient instructors and passing the road test most often, and a few say it runs a bit expensive. Others like that it sits right by the subway and offers weekend classes.
If you just moved to New York and need that five hour class before your road test, this is a handy place to sign up for it.

I only took one class with Jose ( Had some with Alfredo he was great too!) the day before my road test because I already knew how to drive I just needed to understand exactly what they expect during the test. He explained everything clearly, focused on the small details that matter, and made sure I felt confident. I ended up passing, after failing 3 times before! I’m really grateful for his help. If you just need that extra push or guidance before your test, I definitely recommend booking a lesson with him or Alfredo Thank you again! 🙏
I passed my road test and couldn’t be happier with my experience at Ferrari Driving School. The instructors genuinely care and were wonderful throughout the process. My first instructor was Joseph (he prefers to be called Joe). He’s cool and very old-school in the best way. He taught me how to parallel park properly and really helped me become more aware and observant on the road. He does talk a lot, but his lessons stuck with me. Tobish was really kind and clearly cares about his students.
The best around not even kidding. But take a bunch of classes to ensure you pass. I took about 8 all together, but the key is confidence and always look at you blind spots when turning and use signals, everything else is easy as long as you practice. They’re excellent in giving instructions, just listen to them and you’ll be okay if taking your road test.
